Dr. (Mrs.) Blessing Chidinma Okogbue (nee Iroegbu) is a Nigerian resourceful patriot, youth mentor and a lecturer with the Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, Bayelsa State of Nigeria. Dr. Blessing Okogbue has this career vision, to showcase the efficacy of integrating fisheries with information management for economic development and poverty alleviation. She engages in public speaking and youth (students) development programmes using a tool she called “Integrated Lecturing”. She is a graduate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia State where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries. She went further to acquire postgraduate degrees in Hydrobiology and Fisheries from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She is professionally affiliated to the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) and Association of Aquatic Science of Nigeria (AASN) as member. She is a fellow of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD). She is also an alumnus of the Center for Development Innovation (CDI), Wageningen University, The Netherlands where she obtained a certificate on a short course - Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries. She has also undergone other international courses on mentoring and leadership/Management by AWARD which has strengthened her career as a lecturer for better fostering of students and forging of the department forward as the pioneer head. As a researcher, Dr. Mrs. Okogbue has worked on cage culture system for catfish production, aquatic toxicology using Tilapine and Macrobrachium fish species where she introduced an environmental management tool (INM), and currently developing value-chain programmes through researches and environmental modelling. Her research scope covers pre and post-harvest fish losses focusing on both ends of the spectrum: from the hazards threatening biodiversity and catch, to the preservation techniques to improve returns. Dr. Okogbue has worked with both private and non-governmental organization as a trainer, researcher, an administrative staff handling marketing, project and programme planning. She has also worked as an assistant lecturer in Lagos State Polytechnic and is currently the Director, Academic Planning/Linkages for her institution. Blessing loves gospel music, cooking, exploring and sharing ideas. She is a minister with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and is married with two wonderful kids.
